Week #7 – Image Generation & Avatars

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

I feel a bit like a magician who is about to reveal his tricks, as we take on image generation and avatars. After this week, you will know how I made the signs at the top of each blog post for example. Or avatars like the one of me below:

anther favourite, created an avitar and have her on my facebook page. Joined ImageChef and used it to create a birthday present for a friend (which I jinged and printed – lovely!)

This was fun! Really enjoyed the possibilities and had fun playing around with it!

Really cool and so quick. I have logins to every site imaginable now.

As soon as I saw kids doing this in ICT I was onto it like a pig at a potato. The month of Movember brought out especially good avatar faces for me, as could be seen on facebook by the appearance of ‘moustachioed teacher as monkey’ and ‘moustachioed teacher as Mona Lisa’.

Lasting educational value? Not convinced. Novelty flashiness value? Pretty showy. I liked it, although I was slightly disappointed at my Simpsons avatar.

again – this is fun – but i have a mac and macs come with photo booth – it is so easy to create avatars without going into websites!

    why doesn’t uwcsea have macs?

Yup, a good tool that I would recommend all language teachers to use.
Kids have used it in Mandarin this year, and it is a very powerful tool for making connections to their learning.

Great fun. I sent interesting pictures with captions to loads of friends and hope to use it for a presentation soon. Quick and easy but like all these new skills you have to keep practising to keep it fresh in your mind.

Picnik was very easy to navigate and use.

I really had fun with one. Great way to jazz up those ppts!

Indeed the change in my ppts is quite radical. The TAs found this useful too and I even showed the secretaries and they’ve used Image chef!

Completely agree with Margot that this school is missing out by having PCs over Macs!
Love experimenting with the different toys and now have my avatar as my Skype photo
