Welcome to week 4! Hope you haven’t hit too many speed bumps on our journey so far. Thanks for sticking with us – just think of the prizes!!

I’m excited to introduce you to Voicethreads. They are one of my absolute favourite tools for use in the classroom. Voicethreads allow you to upload photos, videos, documents and share them with others in a format which allows and encourages commenting. Comments can be made using text, voice, webcam or sms.

Voicethreads are spectacular for kids of all ages. Using Voicethreads you could:

  • Share what happened on school/class trips.
  • Explain a maths procedure.
  • Share a favourite performance.
  • Respond to visual writing prompts.
  • Gather opinions for persuasive writing.
  • Showcase developing foreign language skills.
  • Share favourite pieces of classroom work.
  • Demonstrate how to throw a ball properly in PE.
  • Explain the process behind a piece of artwork.

As you can see, the possibilities are endless. So this week, it’s time to share your opinions and exercise your

I like this one, and want to try it in class, but am still not sure about logistics.

Great potential for use in the class. And would love to try it. Just need to work out the best way to make this happen. I need to train myself up a bit more to be more confident to use it and teach others how to use it.

Very easy to use and very effective. Will think of ways to utilise this.

Couldn’t think of how I could use it when I undertook these tasks. A couple of months down the line, though, I saw opps for this to be used so I went back and revisited it. That’s when my learning on this happened, rather than when I first had a go at it ‘cold’ for the unfruity Friday.

Children love it, especially if it means they don’t have to write anything down! Very good instructions and quick to do!

    Hi,

This was a fun thing. I was wondering about using it as part of instructional writing. Get children to record instructions and comment on each others plans.

Echoing Cinders – it was fabulous using voicethreads to tie up our super stories unit and the parents raved about this opportunity to see and hear the children. Hope to do more of this next year.

would be great as a homework activity, getting the kids to reflect on a piece of work, art, a performance etc.
